The surroundings of Chiang Mai have some of the great day trip opportunities of Thailand. One of the most spectacular ones is the highest mountain of Thailand: Doi Inthanon. Doi Inthanon National Park is Northern Thailand’s best national park and it’s well known for it’s great trekking and hiking trails, probably the most famous of which is the Kew Mae Pan trail.

Lantern Festival 2017 in Chiang Mai Loi Krathong festival also know as Yi Peng festival in Northern Thailand is a festival celebrated annually on the evening of the 12 th full moon, following the Thai lunar calendar. This is why the exact date changes every year. Loi Krathong could be translated as floating basket in English.

Last night, PM Tours arranged for me to attend a Muay Thai fight-night at the Chiang Mai Boxing Stadium. Tickets were easily arranged a couple of hours before, with the kind help of the lovely Miki. Pim of PM Tours joined me because apparently this night was special; there were a number of belts and prizes being contested that had attracted some really good fighters!

We are in the middle of rainy season, and that means a lot of water! The rivers are wild, jungles green and waterfalls beautiful. My best friend Gido was visiting me in Chiang Mai and I took him for a rafting trip on the Mae Teang river with my favorite rafting company Khampan Rafting.
